EMVA Business Conference
Sony Kapoor to give Opening Keynote at EMVA Conference

In his current role as Managing Director of the international think tank
Re-Define Sony advises key policymakers in the EU and in emerging economies. He also runs Court Jesters, a boutique consultancy that specialises in tackling groupthink in corporate boards and investment committees.
In addition, he is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Future of Asset Management and Insurance. Part of his current work focuses on the future of technology and its interplay with productivity and future of labour.

In his keynote Sony takes the challenge to look at Europe’s economical development under the actually volatile conditions. The UK declares Brexit giving example for other regions and states within Europe strengthening separation trends. And across the Atlantic the Trump administration introduces a new style of leading the United States.

How will this reflect Europe’s economies and industries?
Do we find some answers enabling us to consider adjustments and to be prepared?

Young Professional Award

In good tradition the 2017 winner of the Young Professional Award will be announced at the conference. For the first time the award is endowed with € 1500 besides of the opportunity to present the awarded work at the conference. Download the Call for Papers.

New conference format “Industrial Vision Conference” with EMVA support

EMVA has been cooperation partner of the 1. Industrial Vision Conference from 8-9 March in Ludwigsburg/Germany with well over fifty conference participants. The two-day conference put a focus on application driven machine vision tasks and problems and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Michael Heizman, Head of the Institue for Industrial Information Technology (IIIT) at the KIT in Karlsruhe.
Speakers and participants came from industrial customers of vision technology as well as from vision manufacturer and research side. A keynote was given by Harald Strehle from Daimler AG addressing the demands placed on machine vision systems from the perspective of a car manufacturer. Other focal topics with several high-level presentations each were “methods of image acquisition”, “sensor technology and hardware components”, and “methods of quality control”. The conference closed with a session on machine vision and safety which included a panel discussion on the status quo of safety and security in machine vision addressing future topics such as data safety and safety at work, secure human-robot collaboration, and monitoring of sensitive production areas.

Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions has announced it has begun shipping its range of 5.1 MP, 154fps Camera Link V2.0 modules based on its global-shutter CMOS technology – XCL-SG510.
The camera series, which has been shortlisted for Elektronik’s Product of the Year Awards is suited to a wide range of sectors to capture high-speed moving objects in low (0.5 lx), imperfect or changing lighting conditions including intelligent transport (ITS), factory automation, food / drink inspection and pharmaceutical applications. XIMEA releases new camera models with Sony CMOS sensors and USB3

It started with models based on IMX174, IMX252 and IMX250, and now XIMEA has made accessible to the general public the first units with Sony CMOS IMX255 sensor providing 8.9 Mpix at 43 Fps, as well as cameras using the Sony IMX253 sensor with 12.4 Mpix at 31 Fps. ZEISS – Out of the environmental lab and into the world

ZEISS lenses need to operate perfectly in extreme conditions, withstanding everything from scorching heat and bitter cold to sandstorms and severe vibrations. At its test laboratory in Oberkochen, Germany, ZEISS conducts comprehensive experiments to see how ZEISS lenses respond under these conditions, and to more extreme external influences.
