Boaz Arad receives EMVA Young Professional Award 2017
The EMVA Young Professional Award 2017 goes to Mr. Boaz Arad, for his work “Sparse Recovery of Hyperspectral Signal from Natural RGB Images”.
Arad, age 32, obtained his Computer Science B.Sc. (cum laude) from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) in 2012. Continuing towards a fast-tracked Ph.D. at the BGU Interdisciplinary Computational Vision Laboratory (ICVL), he received an M.Sc. in 2014 and expects to complete his Ph.D. by 2018.
In addition to his studies, Boaz currently serves as CTO of the startup company “HC-Vision”.
Taking place 22 – 24 June 2017 in Prague, Czech Republic, the EMVA conference again has been one of the top highlights for our industry in 2017
100+ attendees and guests enjoyed the three conference days offering presentations, panel discussion and networking events. In more than 80 prescheduled bilateral face-to-face meetings conference attendees used the opportunity for exchanging ideas, finding new cooperation partners or simply renew and strengthen existing business relations.

Embedded VISION Europe 2017

The first Embedded VISION Europe targets developers and users of embedded (vision) systems from all industries.
The conference will be supplemented by an exhibition where all participating companies are invited to show their embedded vision expertise through products and applications.
Embedded VISION Europe 2017, the only conference in Europe having the focus exclusively on this disruptive technology, will show the capability of hardware and software platforms; will present applications and markets for embedded vision and will create a platform for the exchange of information. The conference will be held in English language and is organized jointly by the EMVA and Messe Stuttgart which organizes and hosts the biannual international trade show VISION.

Carl Zeiss Optotechnik GmbH, headquartered in the Upper Bavaria region of Neubeuern, generates about one third of their annual sales with systems for the non-destructive inspection of tyres. The company, which has been known as Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH until 2015, is one of the world’s leading suppliers in this segment and has already implemented inspection systems for tyres with diameters of up to 4300 mm. Such enormous tyres are used in huge mining vehicles, but also new and retreaded pneumatic tyres of passenger cars, trucks, aircraft, motorcycles. High-resolution Xenon-Topaz lenses for 1.1” sensors
The new Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon-Topaz lenses are now available to buy. These low-weight compact lenses are fitted with a C-mount and are suitable for modern 1.1” CCD and CMOS sensors with 12 megapixels and a pixel size of up to 3.0 µm. The image circle has a 17.6 mm diameter. The optimized imaging performance for distances from 1 m to infinity makes these lenses ideal for applications in the areas of traffic monitoring, surveillance systems as well as robot and machine vision.
