FireSync™ Platform Introduced to North American Market
Vancouver, June 10th, 2008 – LMI Technologies Inc. (LMI) launches the FireSync platform at Vision Show, Boston, June 10 to 12th, 2008. The FireSync platform provides hardware and software components that offer engineers the tools to build their own vision sensors.
At Vision Show this year LMI will focus on the benefits of the FireSync architecture, reviewing the flexibility and ease of use provided by a modular component platform. A comprehensive software development environment called the FireSync Studio will be taken through its steps to setup camera and light timing, Gigabit data routing, distributed processing, code development, PC and embedded target building, data collection and system simulation, and final packaging and deployment.
The CEO of LMI, Mr. Len Metcalfe, believes that the industry has been searching for a sensor solution that tightly integrates hardware and software requirements in a very small footprint suitable for embedded use. As a research and development organization specializing in vision technology, LMI has met this challenge, investing resources to design a sensor platform to meet vision engineering needs.
“Our goal today is to reveal the FireSync platform to the North American market to demonstrate how this modular design is easy for engineers to integrate.” Mr. Metcalfe says, “and ultimately, I would like to see all vision engineers discover for themselves the benefits of building vision sensors using FireSync components.”
Benefits of FireSync platform
The FireSync platform provides hardware and software components that can be easily configured by an engineer. Depending on an engineer’s application needs, the FireSync platform offers scalable networking for connecting many sensors, simple cabling, multi-core processing for high speed data transfer and performance, as well as microsecond synchronization. In addition to the core benefits, the FireSync platform is capable of managing system-level complexities, such as video streaming, time stamping, data transmission and event synchronization.
FireSync Developers’ Toolkit
To support the introduction of the FireSync architecture, LMI has created the FireSync Developers’ Toolkit. There are two versions available: standard and advanced. The first is the entry level kit used for VGA type, multi-camera applications. The standard toolkit contains a monochrome camera, a color camera, a sensor controller, a laser, an LED linebar, and a standalone bench. The advanced kit is specifically designed for web scanning applications, providing additional components, such as a megapixel color cameras, quad video sensor controller, and both white and red LED linebars.
Both toolkits are designed to encourage vision engineers to discover the potential of the FireSync platform. Attendees at the Vision Show can look forward to reviewing web scanning demonstrations using the FireSync Developer’s Toolkit at the LMI booth, located at 332.
Additionally, Mr. Peter Wiklund, the Business Development Manager for LMI Technologies will participate at the Vision Show New Product Presentation, reviewing the features and benefits of the advanced toolkit. Part of his discussion will focus on the benefits of using CMOS imagers, explaining how LMI has integrated CMOS imagers into their FireSync technology to provide an extremely fast, scalable, and compact color web scanning solution.
