PSIORI was founded by and around former students and employees of the research groups of Prof. Dr. Wolfram Burgard (Autonomous Intelligent Systems) and Prof. Dr. Martin Riedmiller (Machine Learning) at the Faculty of Engineering in Freiburg. In our research, we have dealt with the topics of autonomous driving, mobile robotics, machine learning, neural networks and reinforcement learning as well as in the application with problems from the areas of sensor processing, self-localization and mapping and with robot, vehicle and machine control. In the areas of SLAM and reinforcement learning, these research groups have played a decisive role in advancing the state of research. Since 2019, we have been working together with Andritz AG (crane manufacturer) on the automation of timber loading cranes.
