Dear Mr. Thomas Lübkemeier,
Welcome to the EMVA newsletter! Each month it provides hands-on information on machine vision in Europe and the world. Find out about the latest projects of the EMVA, innovative products, what’s going on in the machine vision industry and interesting events.
EMVA Launches New Website
Visit EMVA’s new association website at www.emva.org.
Never before corporate presence online has been more important and received more attention than in our days. For the EMVA this has been high motivation to put great efforts into an overall redesign of its association website.
Embedded into all kinds of machine vision related information the website also serves as the European platform presenting companies and institutions being member of the EMVA.
“We are very happy having achieved our goal to go online with the all new website before the year comes to a close. My special thanks go to all supporting EMVA members having contributed to the website relaunch project.” said Thomas Lübkemeier, EMVA General Secretary, and continued “In a second step early 2016 our website will be further broadened with the “Buyers Guide” and “Ask The Expert” functions connecting the interested visitor with representatives of well known international players in our industry.”
EMVA Business Conference 2016 – Registration is open!
Every year the EMVA brings together business leaders and technical experts within the machine vision industry from Europe and around the world with a well-balanced mixture of high-level speeches and networking opportunities.
Taking place 9 – 11 June 2016 in Edinburgh, Scotland, the EMVA conference again will be one of the top highlights for our industry in 2016. Read on… |

EMVA Season’s Greetings
Reviewing the year 2015 surely the big topics of the European political arena will be remembered. With the EMVA Business Conference 2015 taking place in Athens the machine vision community visited one of the political hotspots. More than 115 attendees enjoyed greek hospitality, perfect networking conditions and attractive presentations.
Throughout the year the EMVA website relaunch project was defined and driven to a successfull realisation. With special efforts we have continued EMVA’s market data research projects: The most recent country report on Italy, one of the leading economies in Europe, is available and also the Quarterly Vision Sales Report is developing further and could be provided to a growing number of contributing companies.
We are looking forward to an highly interesting year 2016 offering several specific events for our industry. Just to name some examples; the EMVA will be present at the CONTROL 2016, the SPS IPC DRIVES Italy and obviously at our biannual trade show highlight, the VISION 2016 in Stuttgart, which in good tradition will start again with the EMVA International Vision Night.
Activities are already under preparation; in first place for our annual highlight event, the 14th EMVA Business Conference, taking place June 9-11, 2016, in Edinburgh.
On behalf of the EMVA Board of Directors and the whole EMVA team
I wish you and your family peaceful holidays and a prosperous New Year.

MIKROTRON – Wheels Put to the Test
Why the WheelWatch system is equipped with high-speed cameras
A high-speed camera from Mikrotron is the key component of WheelWatch. With a maximum speed of almost 500 frames per second, the EoSens® camera, equipped with a CMOS sensor, provides a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels. |
|
As a result, it takes sharp and detailed images, even at driving speeds of up to 250 km/h. The integrated high-performance flash also takes care of the extremely short exposure times required, which are in the microsecond range. Read on… |
POINT GREY – 3D Imaging, Lasers, and Fish Lice
The high concentration of salmon raised in cages in fish farms leads to populations of sea lice that can not only injure the salmon, but also become a significant problem for wild salmon in the area who swim past the farms. |
|
Sea lice are considered the single greatest challenge for the aquaculture industry. Every year, millions of dollars are spent on different ways of combating them. Traditionally, lice have been controlled with chemicals and pharmaceuticals, but in the past few years attempts have been made to develop alternative less controversial treatments. Read on… |
